Terms of Service

1. Acceptance and eligibility

Making an account or using RollMates (the “Service”) means you agree to these Terms. You have to be 18 or older. Keep your password to yourself. What happens on your account is your responsibility.

2. Community conduct

Treat other players with respect. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior, which includes harassment, hate speech, threats, spam, impersonation, and anything illegal.

You can report a player or a message, and you can block anyone. We review reports and can remove content or close accounts.

3. Ratings and check-ins

After a session you can rate the people who were there, and they can rate you. Rate honestly. Don’t use ratings to retaliate or organize others against someone. Ratings are anonymous, and yours is shown to other players once enough people have rated you.

Checking in to a table uses your location to confirm you arrived. It is optional. Don’t check in to a table you are not at.

4. Meeting up in person

We don’t run background checks and we don’t vet anyone, so meeting up is at your own risk. A rating is other players’ opinions, not a safety check. Meet somewhere public and trust your gut. We aren’t responsible for how other users behave.

5. Your content

What you post is yours. You give us permission to store and display it so the people it is meant for can see it, and nothing beyond that. We don’t sell it or use it in advertising. Post only what you have the right to post. We can remove anything that breaks these Terms.

Don’t try to get at other people’s data, scrape the Service, or disrupt it.

6. Pro subscriptions

RollMates is free. Pro is optional and costs $1.99 a month or $19.99 a year in US dollars. There is no free trial, so the first payment is taken when you subscribe.

Who takes the payment depends on where you subscribe. On the web it is Stripe. In the iOS app it is Apple, and in the Android app it is Google, through the App Store and Google Play. We never see your card details whichever you use. Prices shown in the apps are set per country by the store and may differ from the US figures above.

Pro renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the price above, until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep Pro through the period you have already paid for.

Where to cancel is where you subscribed. Subscribed on the web: the billing portal in your profile. Subscribed in the iOS app: your Apple subscription settings. Subscribed in the Android app: your Google Play subscription settings. We cannot cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription on your behalf.

Refunds. For a subscription bought on the web, email us within 14 days of a payment for a full refund; after that we do not refund part of a period already used. For a subscription bought in the iOS or Android app, refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies and must be requested from them — we have no way to refund a payment we did not take.

If the price changes we will tell you before it takes effect.

7. Ending your account

You can delete your account any time from your profile settings. We can suspend or close accounts that break these Terms. The Privacy Policy explains what deletion removes.

8. Disclaimers and liability

RollMates is provided “as is”, with no warranties of any kind. We can’t promise it will always be available or free of bugs, or that any meetup will happen or go well.

As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for what other users do. If someone brings a claim against us over something you did or posted, you agree to cover what it costs us, except where the fault is ours.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Virginia. None of this removes a consumer right you have where you live that can’t be signed away.

10. If you got RollMates from the App Store

This agreement is between you and RollMates, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for the app and has no obligation to support or maintain it. If the app doesn’t work as warranted, tell Apple and they will refund the purchase price, if any. That is the limit of what Apple owes you. Apple is not responsible for claims about the app, including product liability, legal compliance, and infringement claims.

You confirm you aren’t in a country under a US Government embargo and aren’t on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and can enforce them against you.

11. General

If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest still stands. We can transfer these Terms if RollMates is sold or reorganized. You can’t. We may update these Terms, and continuing to use RollMates means accepting the new version. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us.
